FreeAppADay - Everyday 1 Free Iphone App To Iphone Users

FreeAppADay.com is a brand new website that will offer a free iPhone app, everyday starting January 8. The site is the collective work of Appvent Calendar and Blacksmith Games devs, in collaboration with ICS Mobile, OpenFeint and TapJoy.

FreeAppaDay.com will not only provide  a different iPhone and iPod touch app that will be made available for free for 24 hours every single day, but it will also provide developers and publishers a unique way to promote their apps.  Although each app will only be free for 24 hours, the app’s icon will remain on the front page of FreeAppaDay.com for the entire month, increasing exposure even when the app isn’t being featured.

FreeAppaDay.com is already accessible, but it will officially launch on January 18th.  If you are a developer who would like to submit an app for inclusion on the site, simply use the website’s submission form. According to the site’s promoters, the criteria for selection is solely based on quality.

Twitterific

Another standby Twitter app that’s seen its feature set trumped by newcomers is Twitterific. The current version of the app still doesn’t siphon replies and dms out of the main feed. There are some cute quirks we like including flicking through profiles, double tapping to change views, and left and right keys to navigate the in-app browser.

There may be some changes to the app soon, though. Twitterific has recently completed Twitterific 2.0, which fixes some of the problems stated above and adds even more features. It should be available to all next week.

The Twitterific Premium version, which costs $9.99 and comes ad-free and includes an extra theme.

Twinkle

A former personal favorite, Twinkle still glitters with its prettiness and location-aware features, but has definitely lost its shine when it comes to necessary Twitter functions. We love the look and the landscape map mode, but our biggest problem is that processing replies is impossible since they’re only included in the main stream.

Like Twitterific, it’s light on features but has bags of character and also includes an impressive tweet-stream from nearby strangers.

NatsuLion

An iPhone version of a functional and compact desktop Twitter-client, NatsuLion is robust and smooth with a simple feature-set for light tweeters. Like TwitterFon, there are four main screens, although instead of search, NatsuLion incorporates a somewhat useless unread tweets page.

Gyazickr

Perfect for iPhone tweeple with a penchant for amateur photography, this app is focused purely on posting pics. With its curious name, Gyazickr allows users to take a photo using the iPhone camera or pick one from the camera roll. Plus, there’s a funky little slideshow that displays other images recently posted to Twitter.

For a free app, Twitterfon comes pretty packed with goodies and rivals more than a few of its pricier alternatives. Search options allow for location-based search, Twitter trends, and saved queries as bookmarks. You even get user profiles, retweet options, hashtag recognition, an in-app browser, and a Twitter address book for adding usernames to tweets (we love this!).

Like JustUpdate, Twitfire is focused solely on getting your message out to the Twitterverse. The app incorporates a mini-browser for posting links, GPS-button for location tweets and access to the iPhone camera for posting photos, all wrapped up in a minimalist icon-driven interface.

ReelDirector - Advanced Video Editing Tools For iPhone 3GS

Yes, the 3GS does include basic editing tools, but very basic, and no effects at all (stitching, etc). Now that all changes with the release of ReelDirector for the iPhone.

Nexvio’s iPhone app makes up for Apple’s omissions by adding in the ability to add titles, basic video effects and, most importantly, clip stitching as well. Simple and easy to use as well, according to the company.

Now bear in mind: this is not a Final Cut Pro type interface or anything. It isn’t anything earth-shattering, according to comments on various blogs. Many are pretty much saying its ‘iMovie’ with a very slick front end, which is still an improvement over the default movie editor included with the 3GS.

Now watch: There will be avalanche of “made and edited on the iPhone” videos to flood YouTube and other such venues.
